Bridled terns (Onychoprion anaethetus) are a small species of tern which inhabit tropical and subtropical waters around much of the globe. In Western Australia, they breed on offshore islands from the southwest to the far north.

There is a colony up the coast at Penguin Island, where 3,000-4,000 breeding pairs were estimated in 2006/7. These photos were taken on 2 separate trips to Penguin Island.
